You'll have to provide the enthalpy change of the conversion in order to solve this question

The enthalpy change is -196kj mol^-1

Then the answer should be 504kj mol -1.

SO2 + ½O2 → SO3

Enthalpy change

B.E (reactants) - B.E (products)

= 2 x B.E (S=O, for SO2) + ½B.E (O=O) - 3 x B.E (S=O, for SO3)


-196 = 2 x 534 + ½ x 496 - 3 x B.E (S=O, for SO3)
