If Chole has 1 unit of marbles, Dorothy will have 3 units of marbles. Elyssa will then have 9 units of marbles.
Difference in units = 9-1 = 8 units
Difference in marbles = 104
8u = 104
1u = 13
Total units = 1u + 3u + 9u = 13u
13u = 169 marbles
Difference in units = 9-1 = 8 units

Is the ans 169?

D was repeated twice... ( I forgot the name) so make D units the same by multiplying by 3...
