The two ∆ are identical.

Area of the upper triangle
= Shaded area + Area B

Area of the lower triangle
= Area B + Area C

So if they are identical, then their areas must be the same.

So Shaded area + Area B = Area B + Area C

Which also means that
Shaded area = Area C.
