For Pythagoras theorem, it means that for a right-angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the other two sides.
Therefore, in the above method, I am finding the vertical side of the triangle that is missing to apply the Pythagoras theorem. I can do this because assuming that both the buildings are parallel to each other, the 3 sides of the will form a right-angled triangle. Hope this helps:)
