From $5 left to needing another $7,

$5 + $7 = $12

This means that $12 more is spent when Anna buys only juice instead of only soda.

$1.50 - $1.00 = $0.50

A cup of juice costs $0.50 more than a cup of soda.

$12 ÷ $0.50 = 24

So 24 cups of juice cost $12 more than 24 cups of soda.

So she bought 24 cups of soda at first.
