Thank you for your help!
I just want to point out that I should use two unknowns here, x is total number of people, the initial x's on the left side where I + 10 and - 6 should probably change to y to indicate total number of books, don't worry about this unknown y as after u subtract the two equations only x ( total people) is left, my apologies
