a) 5 square + 12 square = 13 square. so it's right-angled triangle. (Pythagoras' Theorem)
b) cosACD=cos (180-ACB)=-cosACB=-12/13
c) then use law of cosine to find MD.
MD square=CM square + CD square - 2 x CM x CD x cosACD
