Difficult to understand and figure out! Pls help
Let the cost each person has to pay be 2 units.
Bala only paid half. So he paid 1 unit.
Ailing & Cindy helped Bala pay the remaining 1 unit.
So total Ailing and Cindy paid
= 2 units + 2 units + 1 unit = 5 units.
Ratio Ailing paid to Cindy paid
= 3 : 4
Means Ailing paid 3 parts.
Cindy paid 4 parts.
Total they paid = 3 + 4 = 7 parts.
So 5 units = 7 parts.
1 unit = 7/5 parts.
Cindy only has to pay 2 units actually.
2 units = 7/5 parts x 2
= 14/5 parts
= 2 4/5 parts.
But she paid 4 parts in total.
4 parts - 2 4/5 parts
= 1 1/5 parts
= 6/5 parts
So this means the amount she paid for Bala = 6/5 parts = $24
1/5 parts = $24 ÷ 6 = $4
Since you know 2 units = 14/5 parts,
2 units = $4 x 14 = $56
Each person 2 units, so total
= 2 units x 4 = 8 units
= $56 x 4 = $224

Thus, there is no point multiplying the ratio. As it would make the numbers big and complicate the question. If you dont understand, look at the solution given in the comment by the other person or the one i wrote out.
