Change the power, make all the demonitor the same abd eliminate whatever that you can until you see a quadratic equation, then Tada!

Apologies, it should be -8(1/4) instead of 8(1/4)

Bring out the 4^x so that you can substitute in u. Once you see a u^2, can identify the quadratic equation and solve from there :)
