1st
a) From the graph you can see that when x is equal to or greater than -2 and equal to or lesser than 3, the corresponding values of y is greater or equal to 0 and lesser than or equal to 5.
b) The answer is wrong since abs(x^2-2x-3) will be greater than or equal to x-3 for every value of x. The answer is x is lesser than or equal to 0 or greater than or equal to 3 because it uses (x^2-2x-3) as the quadratic equation and not the modulus version as stated in the question.
