Sorry some random pic because requires to upload a pic to submit.
(a + 1/a)^2 = a^2 + 2 + 1/a^2
Substitute a + 1/a = 7
a^2 + 1/a^2 = 7^2-2 = 47
(a + 1/a)^2 = a^2 + 2 + 1/a^2
Substitute a + 1/a = 7
a^2 + 1/a^2 = 7^2-2 = 47
