Part a)
Hi, for questions that ask you to “explain” something, you need to establish a logical flow. They are asking for the reason why destroying the villi affects absorption, so you need to emphasise the relationship between these two things.
The villi provide a large surface area for efficient absorption of nutrients.
When villi are destroyed, the surface area for absorption is decreased, so absorption is reduced.
Part b)
“Suggest and account” requires you to think about the concept and come up with your own ideas and be able to explain why you think that way.
I’ll try and walk you through the thought process:
Due to coeliac disease, villi are destroyed.
When villi are destroyed, the patient is unable to effectively absorb nutrients from their food.
Due to lack of nutrition, patients may be underweight. They may feel tired easily because they are not absorbing enough energy from their food.
