For the model, divide it into 10 parts to better show the allocation of pupils to each sport.
Since 1/2 of the pupils went to ball, 5/10 units of the model is allocated to 'Ball'.
Out of the remaining 5 units, 1/5 went to hide and seek. Hence we allocate 1 unit to hide and seek.
The leftover 4 units of pupils all went for Tag.
To calculate the pupils who went tag, find the difference (in terms of units) for those who went tag and hide&seek.
Hence, using the model as reference,
4/10 = Tag
1/10 = Hide and Seek
Difference = 3/10, which is also equals to 12 according to the question.
Hence, 1/10 = 4 and those who went Tag = 4/10 = 16.
