Hi Tricia,here's my working for part i : x^2+2xyi+y^2i^2=i
Since i^2=-1, x^2+2xyi-y^2=i
Comparing coefficient of i(imaginary parts),
2xy=1 ->xy =1/2
Comparing coefficient of real parts,
X^2-y^2=0
X^2=y^2 ->x=y so,y^2=1/2 y=+-1/square root 2
Since i^2=-1, x^2+2xyi-y^2=i
Comparing coefficient of i(imaginary parts),
2xy=1 ->xy =1/2
Comparing coefficient of real parts,
X^2-y^2=0
X^2=y^2 ->x=y so,y^2=1/2 y=+-1/square root 2
X is basically 1/sq root 2 since x=y
For part 2,
Add negative to x and y
For part 2,
Add negative to x and y
