Thank you for your kind help. I am afraid I do not understand why an additional 12 is added?
Based on the units, the value of 1 unit is ONLY the representation of Ruth's number of cards AFTER she gave him 12 cards. Hence, you are to add the 12 because it includes the initial number of cards Izzudin had at first.
