Need help w part (ii) only... can’t remember how to solve for x :(. Ans is part (i) is 8p^2 + 7p - 1 = 0..

By substituting p=2^x at the beginning, you simplify the equation into a nicer looking quadratic equation.
Once you get the roots, substitute p=2^x back into the equation.
Not sure if you’ve learnt imaginary numbers, iirc it’s a JC topic so the second root should be undefined..?
