This is a bit late, but hope it helps.

The anthers of the flower are removed, so the flower shouldn't have been pollinated. However since the flower developed into a fruit, it means that pollination has occurred and the only way which it could've been pollinated is from cross-pollination.

The aim of the experiment was to find out if the flower could get pollinated from another flower by cross-pollination
