Why subs x=2?I dun understand
Subst. Is short for substitute x = 2 into the equation. The idea being to eliminate a from the equation.

For the second valie, you can use any value of x other than 2, which was already used. X = 0 is easiest. Try with x=3 or some other value, for the second step (to find the value of a) and you will see.
