Is there a specific method to identify the three identities?

For b^2 - 4ac, a = coefficient of the x^2 term, b = coefficient of the x"1 term and c = coefficient of the x^0 term, or simply put, the terms without any x. Coefficients are just numbers, that in your 1st question, were represented in terms of m.
