Change the boys to girl units by doubling because each boy saves $4 instead of $2.

Let me try to explain. The boys saved $4 each, making their units twice as much of the girls. In order for each boy unit to be the same ratio as the girl unit, the number of squares for the boys need to times 2. That explains the boys having 12 units.
