In 20min, Peter led by 20x60=1200m, and at this moment, Siti only completed 5/8 of the whole journey. By this logic, the remaining 3/8 must be the 1200m that Siti has yet to catch up. So the race distance is 1200/3x8=3200m.

You can also check, Peter's speed will be 3200/20=160m/min, Siti's speed is 160-60=100m/min. 20min after the start of the race, Peter just finish, Siti only ran 20x100=2000m=(5/8)x3200.
