0.625 money is spent on shoes.
Amount remaining that Cindy has = 1 - 0.625 = 0.375
Amount spent on dress = one-fifth of remaining money = 1/5 x 0.375 = 0.075

Since difference between dress and shoes cost $44,
We should find the difference in ratio between the cost of dress and shoes.
Ratio difference = 0.625 - 0.075 = 0.55 of her money

0.55 of Cindy's money --> $44
All of Cindy's money (where ratio = 1), will give the following:
1 of Cindy's money --> 1/0.55 x $44 = $80
(This is a case of proportioning)

Cindy has $80 initially.
