1st question
1st equation: 1/3 of first rope+2/5 of second rope=20
2nd equation: 3/3 of first rope+5/5 of second rope=54
Multiply 1st equation by 3 and you will get 3/3 of first rope+6/5 of second rope=60
60-54=6
6/5-5/5=1/5
1/5 of second rope=6
Second rope=6×5
=30
Shorter rope=54-30
=24
1st equation: 1/3 of first rope+2/5 of second rope=20
2nd equation: 3/3 of first rope+5/5 of second rope=54

1/5 of second rope=6
Second rope=6×5

2nd question:
1st equation: 62.5% of cows+ 75% of goats = 58
2nd equation: 100% of cows +100% of goats =84
Multiply the 1st equation by 1.6 and you will get 100% of cows + 120% of goats = 92.8
92.8-84=8.8
120-100=20
20% of goats =8.8
100% of goats = 44
84-44= 40 cows
1st equation: 62.5% of cows+ 75% of goats = 58
2nd equation: 100% of cows +100% of goats =84
Multiply the 1st equation by 1.6 and you will get 100% of cows + 120% of goats = 92.8
92.8-84=8.8
120-100=20
20% of goats =8.8
100% of goats = 44
84-44= 40 cows
