Hi, need some help with this question.

I solved it by making an assumption that the width of 1 shaded figure in a square is half the side of the square (4cm).

Is there anything in the question that can help me know my assumption is correct? Or is there a more accurate way to solve this question.

Thanks.

Your assumption can be probed by cut away the shaded part. Hope this clarified your doubt
