Can someone pls help m explain

Like I saw the working when u do the working after exchanging it becomes

$1 = 2x - 3
50 cents = x + 6
But like why X+6???

Let X be the number of 50 ¢ coins.
Then,
no. of $1 coins = 2X
no. of 50¢ coins = X

3 × $1 = $3 = 6 x 50¢

After the exchange, you will get
no. of $1 coins = 2X - 3
no. of 50¢ coins = X + 6

Remember that this is in terms of NUMBER of coins. Hope this helps! :)
