Unshaded area = 5/8 + 5/8 = 10/8
Total area of figure = 10/8 + 3/8 = 13/8
Fraction of unshaded to total area = (10/8) / (13/8) = 10/13
Total area of figure = 10/8 + 3/8 = 13/8
Fraction of unshaded to total area = (10/8) / (13/8) = 10/13
