Let f(x) = 6x^3 + kx^2 - 18x + 2
For 3x+1:
f(-1/3) = 70/9 + k/9
For 2x-5:
f(5/2) = 203/4 + 25/4 k
Since f(-1/3) = f(5/2):
203/4 + 25/4 k = 70/9 + k/9
221/36 k = -1547/36
k = -7
To find the common remainder, substituting k = -7 back into f(-1/3) and f(5/2) will give you 7.
