I don't understand why the answer is horizontally to the right, they never stated that the electric field was positive/negative ,so with my understanding, I thought it is possible that there is a negative electric field on the right or a positive electric field on the left. Can someone point out the mistake in my understanding, thank you in advance

We always use the Conventional Electric flow when doing electric field, ie from positive to negative. So the positive is at the Left, the direction will be from left to right (positive to negative)
