List of multiples of 4:
4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, …

List of multiples of 6:
6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, …

Do you see what numbers appear in both lists?

12, 24 and 36. At least this few (and there are more if you list down a few more)

These numbers are common multiples of 4 and 6, because they appear together.

The first two of these are 12 and 24. And what is their sum?

12 + 24 = 36.

So, the sum of the first two multiples of 4 and 6 is 36.
