guys i thot the “-“ sign follows the whole thing why when i do the cross multiply thing the “-“ sign oni follows the “6” n not “4x+12” ?

Only follow 1 either -6 or -(4x+12)
If both it cancel each other
Example
-1/-6 =1/6
So
