One Answer Below
Anyone can contribute an answer, even non-tutors.
For part b) ans is 6/0.5 = 12min
How to explain this part to a child?
Tank A rise 2cm in 1 min
Tank B rise 1.5 cm in 1 min.
Therefore, every 1 min tank A is closer to tank B by 0.5 cm
So, tank B at 1st is 6cm
0.5 cm closer ↣1 min
6.0 cm ↣ 6÷ 0.5 = 12 mins
Let start with
0 min, tank A = 0cm , B = 6cm diff= 6cm
1 min, tank A = 2cm , B = 7.5cm diff= 5.5cm
2 min, tank A = 4cm , B = 9cm diff= 5cm
3 min, tank A = 6cm , B = 10.5cm diff= 4.5cm
