Notice that triangle ACG and triangle ECG are equal as they are half triangles of rectangle ACEG. So they are equal in area.
Triangle GHJ is also equal to triangle GFJ as they are half triangles of rectangle HJFG. Triangle BCJ is also half triangle of triangle CDJ.
So, area of JDEF has to be equal to square ABJH, 36 cm^2. Each side of the square is 6 cm.
AC=6+4=10 cm
