So i must use the gc to plot the 2 graphs to see how many intersection points there are?

You can sketch it without the GC if you want.

As for whether sketching is needed, there's no other way based on the info I have. Maybe the earlier parts might have something that would negate curve sketching, but I have no way of determining that.
