Why do we need to subtract 21cm2 from 147cm2 when shaded area = unshaded area?

Isn't the unshaded area = 1/2 rectangle ADEG?

Because Triangle BCF in inside unshaded area.
Unshaded for explanation is DEH+HFA.

Hi AC, in your drawing showing shaded area = unshaded area, how can we see/know that the shaded area is equal to unshaded area?
