Hi, can explain what is ‘u’? Is ‘u’ the amount of money that is the same for both girls at the beginning?

That is 2 different u.
1st day
L = u + 19
J = u
2nd day
L = 20
J = 15

Total for 2 days
L = u + 39
J = u + 15

Given total 2 days (⅗)
Mean L made 3p
And J made 2p
(I used p here as previous working use white color u)
The different L and J
= 1p
= (u+39) - (u+15)
= 24

So 1p= 24

J total made 2p = 24×2=48
