One Answer Below
Anyone can contribute an answer, even non-tutors.
What method do you use to get the answer?
At first :
Let Amy's beads be ⬛⬛⬛
Jamie's beads = ⬛⬛⬛ + 288
Now 288 ÷ 3 = 96
Jamie's beads can be rearranged into three sets:
⬛ + 96
⬛ + 96
⬛ + 96
Since she gave ⅔ of her beads to Amy, she must have given 2 sets of ⬛ and 2 sets of 96 to her.
96 + 96 = 192
⬛ + ⬛ = ⬛⬛ Or 2⬛
This is what Amy got from Jamie.
Now:
Jamie's beads = ⬛ + 96
Amy's beads
= 3⬛ + 2⬛ + 192
= 5⬛ + 192
Their difference is:
5⬛ - 1⬛ + 192 - 96
= 4⬛ + 96
This is equal to 336.
So 4⬛ = 336 - 96 = 240
⬛ = 240 ÷ 4 = 60
Amy's beads at first = 3⬛
= 3 × 60
= 180
