Think of it like this:

Serene has 1 unit of stickers
Pauline has 3 times of Serene so 3 units
Karl has 175 less than Pauline.

Total = 1281

If you add 175 to the total, it's like making Karl's stickers the same number as Pauline's.

1281 + 175 = 1456

Now Karl has 3 units, Pauline is still 3 units, Serene 1 unit.

Total = 3 + 3 + 1 = 7 units

1 unit = 1456 ÷ 7 = 208 stickers

Pauline : 208 × 3 = 624 stickers

In summary, you just need to write the following working on your paper:

1281 + 175 = 1456
3 + 3 + 1 = 7
1456 ÷ 7 = 208
208 × 3 = 624 (answer)
