Base of triangle

= Length BC - 4cm
= Length AB - 4cm
(Since opposite sides of a rectangle have equal length)

= 10cm - 4cm
= 6cm

Height of triangle (important to note that this is perpendicular to the base. The height meets the base at a right angle or 90°)

= Breadth of rectangle
= 8cm

Area of triangle

= ½ × base × height

= ½ × 6cm × 8cm

= 3cm × 8cm

= 24cm²
