Hello there! Sure, I am happy to explain it. The ratio of 1:800,000 is called the representation ratio. It has no units, and that is the beauty of it.

When you use it, you can attach whatever units you so wish. For example, you decide to use metres. The scale straight away becomes 1m: 800,000m. If you decide to use the length of your cat's tail, it becomes 1 cattail length: 800,000 cattail length. Of course, the first number represents the scale of the "small" and the second number, the "big". Let me know if this explanation works for you. Regards
