One way we can do is to pretend that one of the squares has a side of 10 cm, or an area of 100 cm2.

A 20% upsize results in the bigger square having a side of 12 cm, or an area of 144 cm2.

This is a 44% increase in area. You know the formula to calculate percentage change correct?
