(b-2)² + (b-2)^c / 2(b-2)
= ½ (b-2) + ½(b-2)^c-1

can i ask how (2-b)^2 became (b-2)^2? shldnt there be a (-1) infront of the (b-2)^2? then isn't it like (-1)(b-2)^2

You are right..
{-1(b-2)}² then it become
=(-1)²(b-2)²
= (1) (b-2)²
= (b-2)²
