Jacob says, "If a set has n elements, then it has (n + 1) subsets because the null set is also a subset of it."
What misconception has Jacob made?

(n + 1) subsets rely on the pretext that only one element is contained within each subset.

For example, suppose a set has five elements {A, B, C, D, E}.

Then six possible subsets are {A}, {B}, {C}, {D}, {E} and the null set itself.

However, nothing is stopping us from picking other subsets containing more than element in it, for example {A, B}, {A, C} and so on.
