Monthly salary = 2(3500) = 7000

let x be amount spent.
spent = x
saved = x-4200
monthly salary = 7000 (from part a)
spent + saved = monthly salary
x+x-4200=7000
2x = 7000+4200
2x = 11,200
x= 5600
saved = x-4200
saved = 5600-4200 = 1400
