When Mrs Lim gives each pupil 1 extra stickers (i.e. 4 stickers each instead of 3 stickers each), she will end up giving 7 extra stickers altogether. This is seen in the fact that she will only have 1 sticker left (from the previous 8 stickers).
Giving 1 extra sticker to each pupil results in giving a total of 7 stickers.
There must have been 7 pupils.
She has 7 x 3 + 8 = 29 (or 7 x 4 + 1 = 29) stickers.
