This is essentially solving a pair of simultaneous equations.
In short, you are solving the equation x² + x + 2 = 3x + 5.
x² + x + 2 = 3x + 5
x² - 2x - 3 = 0
(x - 3) (x + 1) = 0
x = 3 or x = -1
y = 14 or y = 2
The coordinates of intersection are (-1, 2) and (3, 14), so our required answer is {(-1, 2), (3, 14)}.
