We see that 7/11 of the books sold are English books. This suggests that 7 units of books sold are English books and the remaining 4 units of books sold are Chinese books, in the ratio 7 : 4.
7 units of the English books sold represent 1/3 of the total English books. By converting 1/3 (or 1 : 3) into 7/21 (or 7 : 21) or using any suitable related approach, we quickly find that there are a total of 21 units of English books at the start.
Similarly, 4 units of the Chinese books sold represent 4/9 of the total Chinese books. The fraction is already good, and from here, we can tell that there are a total of 9 units of Chinese books at the start.
So,
- she has 21 units of English books (of which 7 units are sold)
- she has 9 units of Chinese books (of which 4 units are sold)
In total, she has 30 units of books, 11 units of which are sold, so the fraction of books sold is 11/30.

“sold”
“-1u”
appears a little off. Shouldn’t “sold” be “-4u”?
