Peter has 24 more sweets than Fiona. If peter gives 24÷2=12 sweets to Fiona, they will have equal numbet of sweets. For Fiona to have 12 more sweets than Peter, Peter will have to give another 12 sweets.
So total number of sweets peter has to give = 12+12=24 sweets

This is anticipatory to an extent.

The tutor’s explanation is better.

You can play with pencils to illustrate the point.

Eg you have 5 pencils and a family member also has 5 pencils, and then you give 5 pencils to the family member, what happens to the difference after that?
