This question requires you to work backwards! I suggest for you to solve it piece by piece and not everything together. (don't follow my format lol)
The reason why the fractions can't be added up together is because of " ¼ of the remaining"
so looking at this only, you can find the total remaining as shown.
After finding the total remaining you will realise that this question is easy! The only thing that most people would forget is the phrase "additional 4 eggs" so after you added 4, you will get a full total ⅝
