Using Pythagoras theorem
AB = Sqrt(8^2+6^2)
AB = 10 cm
Since Triangle ABC is similar to Triangle EBD
AB/BC = EB/BD
10/8 = 5/BD
solving,
BD = 5*8/10= 4cm
