When we stick a cone to a cylinder, the original base of the cone and one of the circular surfaces of the cylinder touch each other. These surfaces will not be counted towards the overall surface area.

In this case, the touching surfaces do not add to the total surface area which will be

pi r L + 2 pi r h + pi r L
= pi (4) (6) + 2 pi (4) (8) + pi (4) (6)
= 24pi + 64pi + 24pi
= 112pi
= calculator value
